Union Minister Smriti Irani’s daughter Shanelle tied the knot with Canada-based lawyer Arjun Bhalla in a private ceremony in Rajasthan.
The wedding took place at the historic Khimsar Fort, located in the Nagaur area near Jodhpur. The 16th-century property, owned by former State Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar, was decked out for the celebration, with only 50 close family members and friends in attendance.
The festivities began on Wednesday with traditional pre-wedding rituals, including the “mehendi” or henna ceremony and “haldi,” the application of turmeric. The celebrations concluded with a musical performance and dinner. Smriti Irani arrived in Jodhpur on Wednesday to take part in the celebration, while the groom, Zubin Irani, arrived a day prior.
Due to the VIP nature of the event, security was tight, and Gajendra Singh Khimsar was directly involved in the wedding preparations. The intimate wedding is one of two high-profile nuptials to take place this week in Rajasthan, following the private ceremony of stars Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani on Tuesday in Jaisalmer.
