US: Bodies Of Two Indian Students Found

| Updated: April 23, 2023 17:40

Following their disappearance at a lake east of the Paynetown Marina in the US, two Indian students’ bodies have been found, reported media outlets.

Two Indiana students went missing in Lake Monroe last Saturday afternoon, according to the USA Today newspaper, and their bodies were found late Tuesday morning.

Around 11:20 a.m. (local time), the bodies of Siddhant Shah, 19, and Aryan Vaidya, 20, were found in 18 feet of water in an area east of the Paynetown Marina, which is about 10 miles southeast of the university’s Bloomington campus. Last week’s Saturday, Shah and Vaidya were swimming with their friends while boating on a pontoon.

According to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, both men disappeared and their companions made valiant efforts to rescue them but were unsuccessful. Lt. Angela Goldman, a Department of natural resources spokesperson, told USA Today that one of the men was struggling in the water; others stepped in to assist.

Following the incident, divers dove in and continued their search all day Sunday in the windy circumstances until 10 p.m. utilising sonar and scuba diving, according to Goldman.

On Saturday, the weather was warm and pleasant, there were many boaters on the lake. But on Sunday and Monday, cold rain and wind transformed the lake’s character, leaving it mostly deserted.
