The murder case of former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash has taken a dramatic twist. According to reports, his wife Pallavi confessed to the murder when she called police control room 112. The DGP was found dead at his Bengaluru residence with stab wounds.
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara, responding to media queries, said, “DGP was murdered, they say it was from own wife. But investigation is on.”
The couple’s daughter, Kriti, has been taken into police custody. Reports claimed that the son, Karthikesh, was not at home at the time of the incident. Karthikesh, according to the FIR, later found his father lying in a pool of blood on the ground floor of the house.
In a formal complaint summary filed on April 20, 2025, Karthikesh alleged that his mother had been threatening to kill Om Prakash for over a week. Due to these threats, the former top cop had temporarily moved in with his sister, Saritha Kumari.
Two days before the incident, Kriti reportedly visited Saritha’s home and insisted that Om Prakash return to his residence. The complaint claims he was brought back against his will.
Karthikesh added that on the day of the murder, he was at the Karnataka Golf Association in Domlur when he received a call around 5 pm from a neighbour, Jayashree Sridharan, who informed him that his father had been found lying injured at home.
When he arrived at their residence in HSR Layout around 5:45 pm, police personnel and several bystanders had already gathered at the scene. A broken bottle and a knife were recovered near the body. He was rushed to St John’s Hospital.
According to reports, Karthikesh mentioned in the FIR that his mother and sister had been struggling with depression and were often involved in arguments with his father. He reportedly said he had a strong reason to believe they were involved in his father’s murder and urged the police to take appropriate legal action.
Meanwhile, VIP security inspector Srinivas referred to the murder as having been carried out in a “very brutal manner.” He mentioned that he had spoken with Om Prakash on the day of the incident, recalling that the deceased had called him at 3:05 pm. Srinivas said Om Prakash had spoken in a calm and clear manner during their conversation. When he offered to visit the house, Om Prakash reportedly declined, saying, “No, don’t come… Madam is at home.”
Police are investigating the timeline and circumstances of the events leading up to the murder.
