In a major step to aid the growth and development of athletes in the state, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced the appointment of 100 coaches at the Rajasthan State Sports Council (RSSC) on Friday. The announcement was made while presenting the budget for the state.
The move comes in response to the shortage of coaches in the state and aims to provide the necessary support and guidance to athletes. The RSSC chairperson, Krishna Poonia, expressed her delight at the decision and said that it will play a crucial role in strengthening the sports ecosystem in the state.
In a unique move, the CM also announced that athletes would now be hired at the RSSC rather than other government agencies. This strategy will allow for a more streamlined and efficient process in the development of sports in the state.
To further promote the development of sports in the state, the Rajiv Gandhi Rural and Urban Olympic Games, to be held this year, have been granted a sum of Rs 150 crore. Additionally, the Salim Durani Residential Sports School will be built in the divisional headquarters, and the matching grant for the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium Scheme has been increased to Rs 1 crore to aid the development of stadiums at the block level.
The appointments of the coaches and the other measures announced in the budget are seen as progressive steps towards building a robust sports infrastructure in Rajasthan.
