Amul, the leading dairy brand in India, has announced a reduction in the retail prices of three of its main products. Starting from Saturday (January 25), Amul Gold (1L) will be available at Rs 65, down by Rs 1, while Amul Tea Special (1L) will cost Rs 61, and Amul Taaza (1L) will be priced at Rs 53.
The price cut applies to the original packaging of these products in Gujarat, following a decision by the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets Amul dairy items.
The move comes as the state’s dairies experience an increase in milk supply. Many member unions of GCMMF have recently reduced the procurement prices they pay to dairy farmers. While the company has not provided detailed reasoning for the price reduction, industry experts view the move as a response to growing market competition and a step to support consumers.
While making the announcement, Jayen Mehta, Managing Director of GCMMF, said, “The decision would provide relief to customers, while also strengthening Amul’s position in the competitive dairy sector.”
This reduction applies specifically to the popular variants of Amul Gold, Amul Taaza, and Amul Tea Special. However, there will be no change in the prices of other products or packaging. For reference, the prices for other Amul variants remain as follows:
- Amul Cow Milk: Rs 58 per litre
- Amul Buffalo Milk: Rs 73 per litre
- Amul Slim n Trim: Rs 49 per litre
- Sagar Skimmed Milk: Rs 40 per litre
- Amul Shakti: Rs 62 per litre
GCMMF, India’s largest dairy federation, markets Amul products through its 21 member unions. The federation sells around 55 lakh litres of milk daily in Gujarat, with hotels and restaurants being key bulk buyers.
