The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is set to host the British rock band Coldplay for two grand concerts on January 25 and 26. Over 1 lakh fans are expected to attend each night, including VVIPs, celebrities, and fans from across India and abroad. To accommodate the massive crowds, the authorities have implemented extensive traffic and parking arrangements around the Motera area of the city.
The Ahmedabad traffic police have announced diversions near the stadium to manage vehicular movement during the event.
Access restrictions have been imposed on routes including Janpath T Junction, Krupa Residency T Junction, and Motera T Junction. Alternate routes have been identified, including pathways via ONGC Crossroads, Visat T Junction, Power House Crossroads, and Prabodh Rawal Circle.
Vehicles approaching from Krupa Residency T Junction will be diverted towards Apollo Circle via Bhat Koteshwar Road.
Fourteen designated parking spots, located within a 2.7-km radius of the stadium, have been arranged to accommodate over 12,000 two-wheelers and approximately 4,700 four-wheelers. Key parking locations include:
- Opposite Stadium Main Gate 1 (300 m): Two-wheelers
- Sangath IPL Plot (400 m): Two-wheelers
- Aggrawal Plot (800 m): Four-wheelers
- Railway Colony Playground, Motera (2 km): Both two and four-wheelers
- AMC Plot near Vihan Heights (1 km): Four-wheelers
- Inside the stadium (River Side and Opposite VIP): Four-wheelers
To further ease accessibility, a free shuttle service will operate from select parking spots, including Railway Colony Playground, AMC Plot near ONGC Circle, Opposite Matrushree Party Plot, and Khodiyar Tea Cross Road.
A fleet of 75 Maruti Suzuki Eeco vans will transport attendees to the venue on a first-come, first-serve basis, with ferry service assistants present at pickup and drop points.
Concert attendees are required to pre-book parking spaces online through the ‘Show My Parking’ app. Charges for parking are Rs 150 for two-wheelers and Rs 500 for four-wheelers.
Additionally, the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) has announced increased metro train frequency, with trains running every seven minutes on the concert days. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has also increased the frequency of AMTS and BRTS buses along the routes leading to the venue.
