In yet another case of alleged sexual assault at the upmarket Jubilee Hills, a woman approached the Cyberabad police alleging that a friend raped her, early Tuesday morning.
The victim, 28, was invited to a pub (Repete) in the posh area for her friend’s birthday party. She dropped in after work and after the party was over around 11:30 pm, she was offered to be dropped back by her friends, she reported to the police.
On reaching the survivor’s home in Pragathi Nagar (part of Jubilee Hills), she offered them in. “The friends chatted till about 2 am on June 14. Thereon, two of the three friends informed the victim that they were leaving, following which the woman went into her room and fell asleep. However, around 6:15 am, she was woken up by the pain of a forceful assault,” Bachupally inspector K Narsimha Reddy briefed mediapersons.
After the assault, the victim went into the washroom and using her mobile phone, called friends for help. The victim alleged that the accused forcefully pinned her down and threatened her with severe consequences if she informed anyone. Based on the victim’s complaint, a case was registered and the accused has been sent to judicial remand.
It may be recalled that the same upmarket locality was in recent news for the ghastly gangrape of a teenager by four minors from affluent and politically well-connected families.
