India’s first developed vaccine against Cervical Cancer named Quadrivalent Human Papillomavirus vaccine by the Serum Institute of India, will be discussed by the Subject Expert Committee on Wednesday.
Prakash Kumar Singh had submitted the application for market authorization of the qHPV vaccine to the DCGI on June 8. The application contained the antibody response of the vaccine against HPV types in all dose and age groups.
It is expected that the vaccine shall be launched in the market before the end of 2022, according to sources. If this goes successfully, qHPV will be India’s first indigenously curated vaccine against cervical cancer.
The Pune based Serum Institute of India has appealed for market authorization after completing 66% of the clinical trial with support of the Department of Biotechnology, to ascertain its early availability in the market.
