Major Blow to Boris Johnson As 29 Govt Members Resign

Over the last 24 hours, more than 25 government members have resigned in protest of Boris Johnson’s leadership, adding to the pressure on the UK Prime Minister.

Cabinet ministers, non-cabinet ministers, parliamentary private secretaries (PPS), trade envoys, the vice-chair of the Conservative Party, and the solicitor general are among those who have resigned.

(3) Andrew Murrison — Trade Envoy to Morocco

(4) Bim Afolami — Conservative party vice-chair

(5) Jonathan Gullis — PPS to the secretary of state for Northern Ireland

(6) Saqib Bhatti — PPS to the department for health and social care

(7) Nicola Richards — PPS to the department for transport

(8) Virginia Crosbie — PPS to the Welsh office

(9) Theo Clarke — Trade envoy to Kenya

(10) Alex Chalk — Solicitor General

(11) Laura Trott — PPS to the secretary of state for transport

(12) Will Quince — Children’s minister

(13) Robin Walker — Schools minister

(14) Felicity Buchan — PPS in the department for business, energy and industrial strategy

(15) John Glen — City minister and economic secretary to the Treasury

(16) Victoria Atkins — Justice Minister

(17) Jo Churchill — Parliamentary under-secretary of state for agri-innovation and climate adaptation
