Droupadi Murmu, the presidential nominee of the National Democratic Alliance, arrived in Ahmedabad Sunday afternoon and met with BJP MLAs and other state party leaders.
Earlier, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and state BJP chief C R Paatil welcomed Murmu after she arrived at the Ahmedabad airport to seek support for her presidential candidacy in the Monday election.
She shared the dais with CM Patel and state BJP chief Paatil during the interaction with BJP MLAs and other party leaders at a hotel in Ahmedabad. Some MLAs stated that they are pleased that the NDA’s presidential candidate is a woman from a tribal community and that she will win with a huge majority.
“I believe it is a matter of pride for all of us,” former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said.
“All BJP MLAs in Gujarat are thrilled to have a woman candidate from the tribal community running for president. They will vote to ensure she wins with a massive margin “He stated.
Murmu’s visit to Gujarat on Wednesday was rescheduled due to heavy rains in the state. The election for the country’s top constitutional post will take place on Monday, and state lawmakers are being instructed on how to vote.
Yashwant Sinha, the Opposition’s presidential election nominee, visited Gujarat on July 8 as part of his campaign to gain the support of the state’s Congress MLAs.
