PM Modi Likely to Meet Sandeshkhali Accusers

Kolkata, India: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a women’s rally in Barasat, West Bengal, on March 6th. This news comes amid ongoing allegations of sexual harassment against Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders in the Sandeshkhali region.

The BJP’s West Bengal unit president, Sukanta Majumdar, announced the rally and said the party would facilitate a meeting between the Prime Minister and women from Sandeshkhali who have accused TMC leaders of sexual assault.

“We came to know today that the Prime Minister will be visiting the state on March 6,” Majumdar said. “If the mothers and sisters of Sandeshkhali want to meet PM Modi, we will definitely arrange it.”

Several women in Sandeshkhali have accused TMC leaders, including Uttam Sardar and Shiba Prasad Hazra (arrested), and Sheikh Shahjahan (absconding), of sexual harassment. The allegations have become a major point of contention between the BJP and the TMC-led state government.

The BJP has further amplified the issue by releasing a documentary on social media featuring testimonies from women in Sandeshkhali. The documentary accuses the TMC government of trying to suppress the allegations.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit and potential meeting with the accusers could further escalate the political tension in West Bengal, particularly with elections approaching. His presence at a women’s rally adds another layer of significance to the event, as it could be seen as a message of support to the women who have come forward with their allegations.
