Shiv Sena MLA Kailash Patil Escapes From Eknath Shinde’s Trap

| Updated: June 22, 2022 16:01

Maharashtra’s political crisis has been raging since Tuesday. Questioning the future of the Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government, senior Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde along with party MLAs opened a front against the party. Shinde, if reports are to be believed, has the support of about 33 MLAs and 7 independent candidates. Some media reports say that Shiv Sena MLAs who went to Surat with Eknath Shinde were taken to Gujarat under the pretext of Yatra.

In fact, Shiv Sena MLA Kailash Patil from Osmanabad was able to successfully flee Eknath Shinde’s faction. He then gave an account of what actually happened last night. He said that the MLAs were informed after the results of the Legislative Council came out, that ‘Boss’ had called them for lunch in Thane yesterday (Monday). But it was not clear who the ‘Boss’ was.

Later on, Patil said, that he and the other MLAs were going to Gujarat for a tour from Thane by train. However, during the journey, he became suspicious and with keen observation, understood the whole plot. After traveling about 40 to 50 kilometers from Mumbai, Kailash Patil realized exactly what was happening. By then, the train had covered a distance of more than 100 km from Mumbai.

Nevertheless, Kailash Patil made an excuse for nature’s call and got off the train. This is how he escaped from getting caught in Shinde’s trap. After walking for four-five hours in torrential rain, he asked a motorcyclist for a lift and reached Dahisar by hiking a lift in a tractor. He was then able to reach Matoshri. There, he met Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and gave all the information.

The drama of Maharashtra politics continues to unfold and such interesting twists are coming to light. At this point, the situation is very uncertain and is rather a wait-and-watch game.
