Special Operations Group (SOG) of Ahmedabad today seized a package of marijuana that weighed more than 20 kilograms from Shaherkotda area of the city. The drugs are valued at Rs2,01,200.
The operation was carried out after Inspector of Police A.D. Pariyar and his team received information regarding dealing of drugs in the area. The team apprehended three felons from a street in the Shaherkotda, while they were carrying drugs on a motorcycle. The police arrested the three men for trading of illegal marijuana.
Marijuana dealing is on the rise in the state, with cases found in several major cities including Vadodara and Surat. In one of the biggest operations, last year 661 kg of marijuana was seized from the Surat district on Tuesday during the LCB and SOG raids.
The marijuana was seized from a Tempo parked in the compound of Sahyog Hotel near Manekpore village. The man was carrying marijuana lying on the side of a sheet. Along with marijuana, Rs28,000 in cash and Rs73 lakh were also seized. Two accused have been arrested while the other two accused have been declared as wanted.
