US President-elect Donald Trump, just hours before his inauguration, declared that his administration would soon initiate the largest deportation exercise in American history.
Speaking at the Make America Great Again (MAGA) Victory Rally in Washington, DC, on Sunday, Trump addressed the crowd with a direct message regarding immigration.
“Before this, nobody could even think of open borders, prisons, mental institutions, men playing in women’s sports, transgenders for everyone… Very soon we will begin the largest deportation exercise in American history,” he said.
In addition to his remarks on immigration, Trump pledged to address other international and domestic issues. He assured his supporters that he would bring an end to the ongoing war in Ukraine, halt the chaos in the Middle East, and prevent the outbreak of World War 3.
“I will end the war in Ukraine, I will stop the chaos in the Middle East and I will prevent World War 3 from happening – and you have no idea how close we are,” Trump told the crowd.
Trump’s address also touched upon several key subjects, including new government policies, the immigration crisis, and his broader vision for the country.
In his speech, he promised to restore “American greatness”, saying, “We are going to make our country greater than ever before… We are going to take back our country tomorrow at noon,” referring to his upcoming inauguration as the 47th President of the United States.
He described the moment as the end of what he called “four long years of American decline” and the beginning of a “brand new day of American strength and prosperity, dignity and pride.”
Trump also reiterated his commitment to dismantling what he described as a “failed, corrupt political establishment,” saying, “Once and for all, we are going to end the reign of a failed, corrupt political establishment… We are not going to take it anymore.”
A significant portion of his address was dedicated to his stance on TikTok, which he confirmed he would approve under specific conditions.
“We need to save TikTok because we have to save a lot of jobs. We don’t want to give our business to China… I agreed to approve TikTok on the condition that the USA will own 50 per cent of TikTok…” Trump said, emphasising the importance of securing American jobs and preventing the transfer of business to China.
Furthermore, Trump spoke about the impact of his leadership, referring to it as the “Trump Effect,” claiming that it had already brought about unexpected results even before he officially took office.
