Team from Vadodara Medical College has been rushed to Godhra in order to investigate the latest growing cases of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS). Six teams from health department will also keep a watch on about 600 houses in the area. The most affected regions are said to be parts of Bhuravav area.
Even as the third wave of corona virus has subsided, GBS has caused panic in Godhra. Almost 10 cases have been reported, who are receiving treatment. However, it is believed that few who have already died also might have had similar symptoms.
GBS is a rare disorder wherein a person’s immune system attacks the peripheral nerves. It paralyse digestive system and lower body of a person. This disorder is often seen in people who have recently suffered viral or bacterial infections.
Needless to say, Covid-19 and related complications could have led to the rise in GBS. However, GBS could also affect those who suffered vector-borne diseases like dengue and chikungunya.
