Zee News Anchor Arrested For Fake News On Rahul Gandhi Approaches SC

| Updated: July 6, 2022 16:27

Zee News anchor, Rohit Ranjan, who was arrested by the Noida police yesterday, has been released on bail. He was booked for airing misleading news on Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. His arrest came after complaints were filed against him in Congress-ruled Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. Ranjan has apologized for the incident and said that he had made a mistake, but the Chhattisgarh police are still seeking his arrest.

Although Ranjan had said that he has yet to think about a further course of action, sources have revealed that he has approached Supreme Court in regards to the said case. His lawyer has urged the court to list the petition at the earliest as the two states are seeking Ranjan’s arrest.

Cases were filed against Rohit Ranjan after he played a certain comment by Rahul Gandhi as a statement on the killers of a tailor in Udaipur. In the comment, Gandhi is heard calling the attackers ‘children’ and saying that they should be forgiven. Later, it was revealed that Gandhi had made these comments in regards to the people who vandalized his office in Kerala’s Wayanad area and not in regards to the killers.
