Bharatsinh Solanki’s Distressed Wife Appeals to Rahul Gandhi; Demands Justice

| Updated: February 24, 2022 17:06

Addressing Rahul Gandhi, Gujarat Congress leader Bharatsinh Solanki’s wife Reshma Solanki, has demanded justice for her situation and threatened strike if the party fails to give it to her. She has alleged that her husband mistreated and mentally tortured her to the extent that she had to escape to the US without any support. The appeal was made as Gandhi is expected to be in Gujarat until February 27.

Reshma Solanki had issued a notice in 2021, alleging that her husband,  former Union minister and two-time Gujarat Congress president Bharatsinh Solanki, was mentally torturing her and mistreating her. She said that he had forced her to leave home and was pressuring her to divorce him. She filed the notice in response to a notice by Bharatsinh Solanki, where he said that people should be cautious of financial transactions done by Reshma under his name.

In her latest emotional plea to Rahul Gandhi, Reshma said that she was the daughter-in-law of Congress and that the  party should work to bring her justice. She called out Priyanka Gandhi for her women empowerment campaign and asked how the party could tolerate this injustice against its own women.

Reshma has claimed that although she had escaped to the US, she had no proper job or a place to live. She was struggling alone without any support from anyone. She said that she had hope that the party would fight with her. However, she also warned that she will take to strike if justice is not delivered.

This appeal from a distressed woman comes at a time when Gujarat Congress is stumbling with the series of unfortunate events. In the past month alone, several leaders quit the party, expressing dissatisfaction over the operations of the party.
