Hey Amdavadis, Lost Your Car Or Phone? No Need To Go To Cops. File An FIR From Your Friend’s Phone!

The Gujarat Government is steadily going digital and Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi on Monday took it a notch higher when he made a major announcement on Monday that from now onwards the citizens could lodge FIRs from their mobile phones also. In case, they lose theirs, they can use their family or friends’ to file the complaint. At present, this facility will be available in Ahmedabad only. Gradually, apps will be launched elsewhere and soon.

State Minister Harsh Sanghavi told Vibes of India (VO!) we are very focused on tackling all types of crimes in Gujarat. We want everyone to feel safe. We want police officers also to be approachable. We hope you don’t have to, but in case you have to; your experience going to the police station should be a pleasant one, he said. Harsh also said that it is not just crime curbing  that his government is focusing on. We want the procedures to be quick paced. From the police end, we will ensure everything is done fast track and we will facilitate the judiciary.

In an impressive speech, live with demo and explanations, Harsh Sanghavi interacted at a function attended by top Ahmedabad police officials and media personnel. Ahmedabad Police Commissioner Sanjay Srivastava became the first police commissioner of Gujarat to organise this exercise aimed at fostering public-media relations.

Harsh Sanghavi also made another major announcement that is likely to lure more youngsters to join the State police service. There will be a special quota like other services as Income Tax, Banks, Defence has. The function was orgnised by Gujarat police and Gujarat Media Club at Hotel Hyatt on Ashram road. Rajendra Asari gave the closing remarks. Gujarat Media Club Chief Nirnay Kapur was praised for this initiative.

Making the opening marks, Ahmedabad Crime Branch’s Joint Police Commissioner Premvir Singh said, “We are building a bridge between the media and police to ensure effective and responsive governance. In the new system, a person whose vehicle is stolen need not go to the police station to file an FIR, he can easily file an FIR from his mobile phone itself.”  

Ahmedabad Police Commissioner Sanjay Srivatsava said, “ Our young  Minister has always been of the opinion to reach every citizen at their doorstep and with this news application, we have actualised his vision.” He also said the application launched by Minister Harsh Sanghavi would help create the much-needed awareness about cyber crime. 

Among others present were Joint Commissioner Ajay Chaudhary , Mayanksinh Chavda, Premvir Singh, Gautam Parmar, Rajendra Asari, DCP AM Munia, Chaitanya Madlik, Achal Tyagi, Vijay Patel, Rajesh Gadhiya, Harshad Patel, Dr. Ravindra Patel, Tejas Patel  Premsukh Delu,Amit Vasava and others.

Meanwhile, Harsh Sanghavi also announced that the Gujarat Government will bring a comprehensive sports policy through which ultra modern sports complexes in cities and districts will be built.

“The government will provide assistance of Rs 25 lakh to deserving candidates who can represent India at the Olympic games,” Sanghavi said.
