Prime Minister Narendra Modi today greeted people on the occasion of Eid ul-Adha. He wished everyone and hoped that the spirit of the festival inspired everyone to work towards collective well-being and prosperity.
PM Modi tweeted, “Eid Mubarak! Greetings on Eid-ul-Adha. May this festival inspire us to work towards furthering the spirit of collective well-being and prosperity for the good of humankind.”
Eid-ul-Adha celebrates Ibrahim and Ismael’s love for Allah and commemorates their ultimate sacrifice to Allah. This day also marks the culmination of the Hajj rites at Mina, Saudi Arabia, near Mecca. During the festival, families that can afford to sacrifice a ritually acceptable animal and then divide the flesh equally among themselves, the poor, and friends and neighbours. Eid al-Adha is also a time for visiting with friends and family and for exchanging gifts.
