Vaccination Blunder: Wrong Vaccine Jab Given To Ahmedabad Teenager

| Updated: May 11, 2022 17:00

The Ahmedabad Municipal Health Department went all out to save a 15-year-old boy who received the wrong vaccine jab. The boy took a Covid-19 vaccine shot at the new Ambawadi municipal vaccination centre. Afterward, he was rushed to the emergency room as he complained of dizziness.

The boy’s parents alleged that the centre gave him a Covidshield dose against the mandatory Covaxin. They even demanded records and asked the municipal officials to reveal the extraction origin of the vial. The paramedical staff reassured the parents that the child did not have the wrong vaccine. But, the medical team could not convince the parents.

According to reports, the hospital said that other students also took the dose and did not undergo any medical issues. The officials did not answer when asked about the choice of the vaccine. Consequently, they said that whether it was Covidshield or Covaxin, they could only answer it after the inquiry.

In the last 24 hours, Gujarat has vaccinated 2,894 people for the first dose and 24,638 for the second dose. Gujarat has administered 13,277-second doses to children between 12-14 years of age. The total number of children vaccinated for the second dose in Gujarat is 8.67 lakhs.
