| Updated: July 12, 2022 13:41

Though it had been raining cats and dogs, it was not entirely dark for the whole of Ahmedabad as Mack Rutherford, a 17-year-old pilot from Brussels, landed his plane in Ahmedabad. Being among the youngest to receive his driving license, Mack was just 15 when he got his license. Rutherford is a globetrotter who wishes to mark a world record by becoming the youngest person to travel the world solo in an aircrafter. He landed in Ahmedabad on Sunday in his single-engine aircraft, Shark Aero UL from Karachi, Pakistan. It was his passion which brought him to Ahmedabad, on a journey he began in March. He gave a message to youngsters and youth , that they need not be adults to impact the world. Determination and willpower are assets that can lead to a great change, he believes.
He further added that he wishes to utilize this opportunity to meet like-minded young people who have done incredible things in their field, and contributed to society. His main aim is to prove that young people are capable of making a difference.

Till now, the 17 year old pilot has flown to Bulgaria, Italy, Greece, Egypt, Sudan, Kenya, Pakistan, India among others. He shall complete his journey in two more months.

Mack belongs to a family of aviators, and hence, flying had always been attractive to him. He had been learning since he was 11 and he got his license at 15. He also shares that when he commenced this journey, he added an extra fuel tank to fly longer distances in his aircraft.

Upon his arrival in Ahmedabad, he stayed with a local host and tried authentic local food which he enjoyed.
But, tumultuous weather did not make his work easier. There was a puddle in the aircraft where water had seeped in. He had to make arrangements with rags to remove the water. There were some issues in flying but they cleared away as he approached Delhi, after which the journey carried ahead smoothly.

Talking about his schedule ahead, he is to land in Kolkata next, and then move towards Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan and South Korea, and slowly towards the US, Greenland, Iceland, UK, Belgium and finally back to Bulgaria where he started.
